Charedi MKs Find Solution to Charedi Ballot Monitors Not Being Able To Attend Final Training Due to Their Beliefs

A solution has been found to the problem of Charedim acting as ballot monitors in the upcoming election. The problem was sparked by the fact that the Elections Committee would be holding the final training meeting for all ballot monitors and supervisors in a Conservative center. As the Chareidi potential monitors refused to enter the building, this would cause them to be disqualified from working as monitors or supervisors come election day.

Kikar Shabbat news site reported that two Charedi MKs intervened with the Elections Committee in an effort to find a plausible solution to the problem. MK Michael Michaeli was the first to intervene. However, after making known his disappointment with the committee at holding the important day in a location that is involved in a disagreement, he was unsuccessful to get the venue changed.

MK Yaakov Asher then joined the fray on behalf of the Charedim as well. Together, the two MKs worked all day on trying to find a solution.

Following an investigation into the matter, it was discovered that there were two other locations where the training was taking place. Those who signed up late got stuck with the Conservative location as all of the spaces in the other locations were spoken for.

The MKs worked out with the elections committee that any Charedi who does not want attend the training in the Schechter Center, could transfer to one of the other two locations.
