A red alert sounded in southern Israel for the second time in two days after a mortar shell fired from Gaza landed inside Israel on Motzei Shabbos. Luckily there were no injuries and no damage was reported. The siren sounded in the Eshkol region of the Gaza periphery.

IAF planes attacked numerous Hamas positions in response to the launches of the mortar shells both today and yesterday and the continued balloon bombs that are being launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that one person was killed and 48 were injured in the weekly violent riots that took place along the border fence in Gaza on Friday.

Following continued sniper fire from the Gaza Strip at Israeli soldiers monitoring the border, the IDF is setting in motion plans to build watch posts along the border that are protected against sniper fire. The IDF is currently exploring options on how and where to set up these posts along the fence.

Two terrorists who crossed the fence into Israel were apprehended by the IDF and taken for questioning. They were found to have in their possession a hand grenade and a knife.

Police sappers were called to the Sha’ar Hanegev region after a balloon bomb was discovered with the head of an anti-aircraft missile attached to it. The device did not detonate upon landing.

Also near Gaza, navy boats fired warning shots near two fishing boats who had crossed from into Israel and refused continued warnings to turn back. The boats did turn back and there were no injuries reported.

Also on Motzei Shabbos, IDF soldiers brought down a drone that was launched from Gaza and was flying over Israeli airspace. The drone was spotted as soon as it was launched and the instant it crossed into Israeli territory it was shot down. The drone is now being inspected for having carried an explosive device.

One person was killed and three people were injured in a motor vehicle accident involving two cars on Highway 446 on Motzei Shabbos. The accident occurred between the towns of Alei Zahav and Bruchin in the Shomron. Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah personnel responded to the emergency and treated those injured.

United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Or Schalit who was one of the first responders at the scene said: “Unfortunately the 70-year-old woman who was driving one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene after her body was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. I together with other volunteers from United Hatzalah treated one woman aged 65 who was moderately injured in the car with the deceased driver and two other people who were lightly injured from the other vehicle.”

A woman in her forties was found dead on Levin Epstein Street in Rehovot. Police found signs of violence on her body and it is suspected that she was murdered. Two suspects were apprehended by the police, a man and a woman. The incident appears to be criminal in nature.

A daycare teacher was arrested after a video was brought to police attention showing the woman (60’s) dragging an infant and flinging the baby to the floor. The daycare worker is one of numerous workers who work in a private daycare.

An 86-year-old man who was crossing the street in a crosswalk was seriously injured by a passing car in Tevaria. He was treated at the scene by United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom personnel before being transported, via helicopter, to Rambam hospital in Haifa. The driver was taken for questioning by police.

A 60-year-old man was rescued from his apartment on Tel Ma’aneh in Haifa after a fire broke out inside the apartment. The man appears to have fallen asleep with his heating blanket still plugged in. It is assumed that the blanket caused the fire.

A 60-year-old women was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident that took place ear Ein Harud in the Jezreel Valley.

Police arrested a Kiryat Ata man for suspicion of arson after a hostel in the city was set on fire. A man in his 30’s was seriously injured due to smoke inhalation in the blaze and was rescued by firefighters.

Two Israelis were arrested at the Taba border in Sinai, on the Egyptian side, after it was found that they had bullets in their luggage. The Israeli Foreign Ministry is working with the Consulate in Cairo to assist the Israelis and is attempting to get them released.
