Three Chareidi Soldiers Receive 6 Months in Prison For Assaulting Palestinians


Three soldiers from the the battalion of Netzach Yehuda in the Nachal Chareidi Brigade were convicted of unnecessary assault in extreme circumstances as part of a plea bargain, and will receive six months in prison for their actions. The court ruled that the soldiers showed excessive violence against Palestinian prisoners following the murder of their comrades at the Givat Assaf junction.

From the ruling it was revealed, that the soldiers hit two Palestinians whom they were holding following their arrest. The assault resulted in injuries to the prisoners.

The soldiers admitted their actions to the court and took responsibility for their actions. As punishment as agreed by both sides, the soldiers will serve six-and-a-half months in prison and will be demoted in rank to the lowest rank in the IDF, that of private. They will also be placed on suspended sentence.

The trials of two additional soldiers involved in this incident have yet to be held.

The commander of the soldiers, a Lieutenant, who is accused of not stopping a crime, negligence leading to assault, and conduct unbecoming an officer, is still yet to be held.
