Two Israelis Killed in the Ethiopian Plane Crash Have Been Identified

The Israeli victims in the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday have been identified as (L-R) Avraham Matsliah, 49, and Shimon Re�em,55

The two Israelis killed in the Ethiopian Airlines crash near Addis Ababa on Sunday�have been identified�as Avraham Matzliach Z”L, 49, from Maale Adumim and�Shimon Re�em, 55, from Zichron Ya�acov.

Matzliach is survived by his wife and twin daughters, who are both serving in the IDF. He was reported to be a successful businessman involved in high-tech, and it was not a rarity for him to travel between Tel Aviv and Africa.

�This is a tragedy that is hard to swallow. He was loved by everyone and always cared for us. We all simply loved him,� his�daughter Yael, 19, was quoted by Ynet.

Re�em is survived by his wife and 5 children. He was a 23-year retired veteran of the Shin Bet, and was working for the Israeli security consulting company Shafran.

�It�s a real tragedy,� his cousin Noam Haroush told Ynet. �Shimon was a wonderful person, energetic and dedicated to his work and his family.�

Channel 13 reported that Re�em had previously been in charge of security at two Israeli embassies in South America and had also later worked as a head of regional security for Israel�s El Al airlines.

All 157 passengers and crew members were killed shortly after the Boeing 737 MAX airplane took off�from Addis Ababa, enroute to Nairobi, Kenya.

At least 35 nationalities were among the dead, including 8 Americans.

Authorities are still working to sort through the wreckage and identify victims. The Israeli emergency response group ZAKA sent a delegation late Sunday night �to locate and identify the Israeli victims, to collect their remains in keeping with Jewish law, and ensure a full Jewish burial,� the group said.
