Israel’s EMS Services Stand Ready For Lag B’Omer In Meron [PHOTOS]

Israel’s emergency medical services, Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah, are finalizing preparations for the arrival of about 500,000 people to Meron for Lag B’Omer, making their way to the tziyun of the Rashbi ZY”A.

Hundreds of EMTs, paramedics, doctors and other professionals will be on hand, some circulating among the masses while others will man offices, command centers and frontline medical treatment facilities.

The area is divided into over 100 numbered sectors, so if someone is in need of medical assistance, s/he can tell the dispatcher what number area to respond to. This has proven to sharply cut down response time in the difficult situation of reaching a patient amid a large crowd of people.

The organizations are completing their operations and will have manpower in Meron beginning next week, when the early arrivals begin camping out in Meron, which for some is a minhag that has been observed for many years.

In addition, there will also be 5000 police assigned to the operation and other volunteer organizations will be operating, including ZAKA, which undertakes the responsibility of dealing with lost children and reuniting them with family members.
