Motzei Shabbos News Round-Up From Eretz Yisroel


IDF soldiers arrested a Palestinian Arab carrying a knife at the checkpoint between the Palestinian side and the Jewish side of Hebron. Over the past 24 hours two Palestinians were arrested at various checkpoints in the city carrying knives. It is believed that they had been planning a combined terror attack somewhere in Israel.

Palestinian Arsonists are suspected of having lit a fire near a military outpost in Tel Aras, located close to the Jewish town of Har Bracha in Samaria. No arrests have yet been made in the case.

Fires broke out near the town of Ne’urah in the Gilboa region, in the Presidential Forest close to Latrun, and near the town of Lapid. Investigations have been opened into the cause of these fires and arson has not been ruled out. Firefighters worked tirelessly over Shabbos to put out the blazes.

The condition of Gavriel Lavi, who was seriously injured in the stabbing attack on Friday, has begun to improve according to a hospital spokesperson.

A man was pulled from the waters of the Mediterranean Sea on Shabbos without any signs of life. The man’s body was discovered just south of Haifa. A resident of the center of the country who was kayaking in the sea reported that he saw a man floating in the water near the Atlit beach. The man’s identity is not known and it is suspected that the body belongs to someone from a country neighboring Israel.

A 50-year-old man was pulled from the water at the Jerusalem beach in Tel Aviv. United Hatzalah volunteers and Magen David Adom ambulances responded to the emergency and performed CPR on the man before he was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A 40-year-old man was killed and a 25-year-old woman was seriously injured, while a 40-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl were moderately injured after a truck from the Palestinian Authority hit their car near Beit Haggai south of the Hebron Hills in Judea.

A 26-year-old man was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) that occurred between a car and a motorcycle near the Hagana interchange on Highway 20 in Tel Aviv.

A 60-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by a car on Herzl Street in Ashdod.

Interim acting Education Minister and head of the New Right Party Naftali Bennett declared that he intends to run in the upcoming elections in Israel and that he hopes to create a unified right-wing party together with Zehut leader Moshe Feiglin, Jewish Home Party leader Rafi Peretz and National Union party head Betzalel Smotrich. Feiglin verified that he met with Bennett on Thursday and that the two had a positive meeting. Bennett said that he is supposed to meet with Peretz and Smotrich early this week. According to the report, Bennett’s proposed unified party would be called the United Right Front.

  1. I’m sorry Ywn but this Israel news round up has to go. I think it’s plain wrong how week after week you post all the bad stuff that happened in Israel on shabbos, I know this is a news site and all but to specifically have a Motzei Shabbos Israel list of tragedies is on the darker side of “news”
