Jerusalem Man Busted Driving 147 KPH While Returning From The Kever Of The Shelah HaKodosh

On erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan, thousands visit the tziyun of the Shelah HaKodosh in Tiveria, near the Rambam ZY”A and Rav Yochanan ben Zakai. Many wish to be mispallel at the site of the kever, to recite the tefilla for one’s children.

For some, it appears reciting the tefilla is even more important than worrying about one’s own personal safety, as police during the night apprehended a minivan traveling at 147 KPH (91 MPH) on a road with a maximum speed of 90 KPH (55 MPH).

The vehicle was pulled over by police on Route 2 near Sira Interchange southbound, and police learned the driver was a 20-year-old new driver. He has six passengers in the van with him.

They were traveling from the Ancient Cemetery in Tiveria towards Jerusalem when they were pulled over. Police also learned that there was not a licensed driver among the six passengers, so the new driver was also in violation of driving at night without a veteran driver at his side.

The young man, a Jerusalem resident, was taken for an immediate hearing during which his license was suspended for 30 days and his vehicle impounded in a police lot for the same time period.
