Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi Goes After Deri Again – Vows To Become The Next Interior Minister

Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi on Monday attacked Interior Minister Aryeh Deri with harsh statements on the backdrop of the interim order issued against him prior to removing him from office by the ministry. Kobi failed to pass a city budget despite numerous attempts, and the Interior Ministry is in the process of appointing an interim committee to run the city.

Speaking with Reshet Bet Radio on Monday, Kobi stated, “Before the dissolving of the government and Knesset, the attorney general gave clear instructions regarding what is and what is not permitted. It is prohibited to appoint senior posts and to make budgetary decisions.

“Here Aryeh Deri wishes to take the law into his own hands and to explain it as he sees fit.”

Kobi on Sunday officially registered his party for the election for 22nd Knesset, calling it the Right-Wing Chiloni party, and he does plan to compete in the upcoming election. Kobi is confident that he will be the next Minister of the Interior, replacing Aryeh Deri.

“He who doesn’t want me as mayor of Tiveria will get me as the minister of the interior” he added.

Kobi claims that recent polls show him receiving between six and ten seats, stating according to polls on social media, he is behind Netanyahu in popularity for searches on social media. He is certain that he will be taking right-wing votes from Likud.

Kobi adds, “We are talking about a party for all. We are not against religion. We are not against the religious. We do not want to see the group in Knesset that control the state’s money. Aryeh Deri is the most corrupt minister in the State of Israel”.

Kobi is not concerned regarding the future of Tiveria after he failed to pass a city budget on five separate occasions. He insists the city is operating as are the best cities in Israel, with a lower deficit than most cities.
