Following the arrest of a draft dodger in Ben-Gurion Airport as he was trying to fly to Uman to be mispallel at the tziyun of Rav Nachman ZT”L, protesters took to the streets on Monday night in both Jerusalem and on Highway 443 Monday night, continuing late into the night.

It began in Jerusalem at Kikar Shabbos, and later making their way to Shmuel HaNavi Street at the intersection of Bar Ilan Street. Protesters also brought traffic to a halt on Highway 443, the Modi’in – Jerusalem Highway, at Mevo Modi’im Junction, a bit north of the city of Modi’im.

The male arrested at the airport did not register for a ‘bnei torah’ draft exemption, and therefore, he is listed as a draft dodger. Protesters from Peleg Yerushalmi and the Eida Chareidis took to the streets, disrupting traffic and public transportation.

At the start of the protest, they succeeded in waving their signs against the draft of females, shutting traffic in Yerushalayim totally, in both directions. Police acted with determination and cleared the protesters, permitting the flow of traffic to resume. Four persons were arrested, police report.
