Most Peleg Protesters Were Released By Police

During the violent Peleg Yerushalmi protests that took place on Wednesday at Jerusalem’s Kikar Shabbos in protest over the arrest of a Breslov Chossid at Ben-Gurion Airport for being a draft dodger, eleven persons were arrested. Seven of the detainees were released on Wednesday night while the four remaining detainees were arraigned in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning, where it was decided in an agreement by both sides not to extend their remand.

Both sides agreed that the four will distance themselves from illegal protests until October 1, 2019 at noon. In addition, each had to deposit a NIS 5000 third-party guarantee they will adhere to the conditions of their release.

Peleg officials announced on Thursday that they plan to resume protests on Thursday night at 8:00PM.

One Response

  1. This is not the way to stop violent protests. Keep them in jail, prosecute them, make them realize that breaking the law, massively disturbing the peace and assaulting police officers is not an acceptable method of protest. They are entitled to protest, but in an orderly fashion which does not create a chillul HaShem.
