After Closing Case Against Gal Hirsch that Blocked His Appointment as Police Commissioner, a New Case Appears on the Horizon

Police are recommending the State Prosecutor file criminal charges against Gal Hirsch for alleged tax evasion amounting to NIS millions, News13 reports.

Israel Police investigators on Monday turned over the investigation against Brigadier-General (reserves) Gal Hirsch, recommending a criminal indictment for alleged tax evasion to the tune of NIS millions. Police investigators feel there is sufficient evidence against the former senior IDF officer to move ahead with a criminal indictment.

“A week after Gal Hirsch joins the Likud, police recommend that he be tried. It’s probably accidental,” Hirsch’s attorney stated. “Hirsch adamantly rejects the suspicions attributed to him. Hirsch did not commit any offense, he reported his income in full, and fully paid tax as required. This is at most a civil debate and we are confident that after this case will be examined by the prosecutor’s office, it will also close it like the other two cases [that he faced], thus ending the unspeakable torture that Hirsch and his family have been facing since thwarting his appointment as Israel Police Commissioner in 2015.

As reported by YWN-Israel, Hirsch, a decorated IDF officer, became the scapegoat for the failures of the Second Lebanon War, and has since been hounded by his opponents who appear to continue seeking to prevent his advancement; first in the military, then in the Israel Police, and now in the political arena. All allegations against him to date have been unfounded and the cases closed, as his attorney feels will be the case here too.
