Following the fatal stabbing attack of hesder talmid Corporal Dvir Sorek HY”D, 19, from Yishuv Ofra, the IDF is stepping up its presence throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
The IDF on Thursday morning stepped-up its presence of infantry forces throughout Yehuda and Shomron, and the police and Shin Bet are continuing the search for the terrorist(s) responsible for the fatal attack.
As part of the searches, a column of Israeli jeeps entered the nearby Palestinian village of Beit Fajar, a mile south of where the body was found. Soldiers blocked the road and searched homes.
The military said it was calling up more troops to the West Bank in response to the incident.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the Islamic terrorist group Hamas issued a statement praising the killing of the soldier.
“We salute the hero fighters, sons of our people, who carried out the heroic operation which killed a soldier of the occupation army,” Hamas said in a statement. The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad also hailed the killing as “heroic and bold.”

Netanyahu said in a statement that security forces were “in pursuit now in order to capture the despicable terrorist and bring him to account.”
Dvir was a talmid in Yeshivat Ohr Torah Machanayim, a hesder yeshiva located in the kibbutz. He headed to Jerusalem to purchase sifrei kodesh for his rabbonim and friends, to distribute as gifts as he is winding down his limudim, preparing to enter the military phase of his hesder service.
The father of Dvir Sorek spoke to the media and described his son as “a kid with light in his eyes,” adding that “whoever didn’t know him missed out, he used to help the weak around him who were in need of a friend.”

Put the whole Palestinian village under lockdown – nobody in and nobody out -until they cough up the animals responsible.
