Otzma Yehudit’s Ben-Gvir Files A Libel Suit Against Stav Shafir After Being Compared To Hitler

Otzma Yehudit candidate, attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir, is filing a libel suit in the amount of NIS 500,000 against Stav Shafir, who compared him to Adolf Hitler YSVZ. The incident occurred during a hearing before the Central Election Committee to disqualify the Otzma Yehudit party from running in the upcoming election for 22nd Knesset.

Shafir is running on the ticket with Ehud Barak, the Israel Democratic party, and she was out of control during the Wednesday session before the Central Election Committee (CEC), presenting her case to disqualify the entire Otzma Yehudit party, followers of the late Rabbi Mayor Kahana HY”D. At some point, CEC Chairman, Justice Chanan Meltzer, told her she was out of time. She was granted an addition 30 seconds to wrap up her message. She refused to halt her diatribe against Ben-Gvir and his colleagues, until such time Meltzer ordered to shut off her microphone and ousted her from the session.

Ben-Gvir explained he will file the libel suit after Shafir compared him to the leader of Nazi Germany.

During a Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) interview earlier in the day, Shafir was reprimanded by Ynet correspondent Bentzion Reno Tzror after she insisted that Ben-Gvir, who was scheduled to speak after her, should not even be given air time since “he is anti-Zionist and against democracy and in a true democracy, he would not be given a voice”.
