Israel: The Cost of Electricity to the Consumer Expected to Drop

The cost of electricity for household consumers in Israel is expected to drop with the beginning of the new Gregorian year, as a 4% reduction in cost is expected.

According to a credible rumor attributed to Israel Electric Company officials, the price is expected to drop by four percent in January 2020.

In the beginning of 2019, the price of electricity increased by 2.4%. If the unofficial rumor is true, and the price will drop by 4% in January 2020, then the cost of kilowatt of electricity will be 53 agorot, two agorot less than the price today.

If this does occur, it may also lead to a drop in the price of water, which uses the water desalination process and electricity for much of the nation’s potable water today.
