Lieberman Attacks PM Netanyahu Hours Before the Knesset is Dissolved

Just hours before the Knesset is dissolved on Wednesday night, Chairman of the Yisrael Beitenu party, MK Avigdor Lieberman, released yet another harsh attack against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. This time, Lieberman opted to use his Facebook page as the venue for the attack.

He attacked the prime minister’s conduct regarding the political sphere and the legal issues that he faces, criminal indictments in a number of different cases.

“Recently, I have detected a jump in defamation, lies and malicious theories against me personally and against my immediate family and environment, coming from Balfour Street” Lieberman wrote.

“Although, since the beginning of the election campaign for 22nd Knesset, I have made it clear that Yisrael Beitenu will only support a national unity coalition. Time and time again, the Prime Minister’s associates, in various scenarios, repeat versions of why I did not join a chareidi/messianic coalition headed by Netanyahu. For those who missed the following explanation, ‘Lieberman was blackmailed by police and the prosecutor’s office, scared of investigation, and became the ethos of the legal establishment'”.

“For the benefit of the prime minister and his associates, I have endured my share of investigation and I was never scared, and I never hid behind immunity, and I funded the entire legal battle from my own money along with loans from friends and banks. If I was worried about someone or wanting to please someone, I would not have emphatically stated all along that the prime minister has the right to continue serving until the final verdict. This is the law in which the State of Israel passed in 2001, which I opposed. But despite it all, I believe that laws must be respected even when they do not find favor in our eyes, or in my case, when I voted against it”.

Lieberman points out that if he really wanted to attack the prime minister, he would have joined Blue & White, which has a member who has indicted Mr. Netanyahu already and will not sit in a coalition with him, supporting a Knesset Committee during the transition period, which would strip the prime minister of his parliamentary immunity…
