Police have arrested a 58-year-old Netanya resident who allegedly disguised himself as a gas technician, entered homes of elderly Gush Dan residents, and defrauded them by charging sums of money to repair gas lines and gas leaks that did not exist.
After receiving complaints from victims, police launched an investigation. Police learned the suspect would contact building committees and then target elderly residents in the buildings. Apparently, this was insufficient for the greedy suspect, who also stole thousands worth of cash and valuables from homes of the elderly Gush Dan residents while he was in them to address gas leaks.
Police have taken the suspect for an arraignment hearing and he is being held without bail. Police also feel there are additional victims and they are working to identify them and add their official complaints to the case.
