Israel’s Health Ministry is encouraging Israelis to consume vitamin D in light of numerous studies showing that low levels of the “sunshine” vitamin put people at increased risk of contracting and/or dying of COVID-19.

International studies show that high levels of the vitamin boost the immune system which helps to kill the coronavirus. In other words, people with high levels of vitamin D are less prone to contracting the virus and if they do contract it, they are at less risk of becoming seriously ill or dying from it.

Vitamin D can be obtained by exposure to the sun, through vitamins, and/or through food rich in the vitamin, including egg yolks, meat, liver, oily fish such as salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel, and enriched foods.

About 70% of adults worldwide are deficient in vitamin D, according to Dr. Milana Frenkel-Morgenstern, the head of an Azrieli Faculty of Medicine research group that published a study in July linking low levels of vitamin D to an increased risk of contracting COVID-19.

  1. Finally!!!

    These are wicked people!!!

There are so many things they could have told people to do in order to save them from the pandemic yet they chose not to. Who know what political calculations they have made!!!!

  2. Best food for Vitamin D in balance with Vitamin A (1:10 ratio D:A), is cod liver oil. The oil is also found in canned cod livers, and some of these have mehadrin hechsharim. Delicious in salads and other dishes. Pre-war England families always had cod liver oil in their pantries–the modern processed foods movement caused it to go out of vogue. It has been known though for 1000s of years as a superfood, and helps support the immune system very well.

  3. Many many frum people, especially those of Eastern European countries (probably safe to say that equates to most frum Jews today), are significantly deficient in vitamin D. And it’s a really simple thing to fix. Your doctor can advise you on how to raise your levels in a short period of time.
