HORRIFYING: Antivaxxer Tries To Physically Attack HaGaon HaRav Edelstein [PHOTOS]

HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein, who just returned to delivering shiurim in person after a year of staying at home due to the pandemic, was accosted by an anti-vaxxer on Wednesday afternoon.

As the Rosh Yeshivah was returning to his home after delivering a shiur, a young man approached him and began screaming about coronavirus vaccines, the “decree” on army enlistment, and voting in the elections.

“The man was insane, he shamelessly screamed at the Rosh Yeshivah,” a witness to the scene told Kikar H’Shabbos. “We managed to overcome him only through a neis. At the last minute, we prevented him from physically attacking the Rosh Yeshivah.”

Someone called the police and officers quickly arrived at the scene. They arrested the man and he was taken to the police station for interrogation.

Just two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred at the home of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky when a man with a knife tried to enter the Gadol’s home.

The man later told the police that “it bothers me that the Rav calls for people to be vaccinated against the coronavirus” and that the Rav “doesn’t support Binyamin Netanyahu in the elections,” and therefore, he came “to convey a message to him.”

  1. So, you are saying a crazy man attacked the Rav. Not an anti vaxxer as the headline states. lets not twist things like the secular media does.

  2. Sounds to me like two proud Republicans. After all, the virus is fake news pushed by the Democrats just to win the election. Why so shocked? This behavior had Trump’s blessing for four years.

  3. @LAmother
You are nuts. When people (like the wosner’s) embrace radical opinions – radical people will follow them hence, the radical behaviors.

    It is connected.

  4. At least *this* attempted attrocity by anti-vaxers was unsuccessful.

Here’s to hoping the other atrocities aren’t successful either.

  5. As much as I disagree with anti-vaxxers, it seems pretty obvious that nebach, this guy has serious mental health issues. B”H the Rav is ok, it must have been a terrifying experience, but the attacker needs a careful evaluation and treatment. It’s a rachmones.

  7. Editor,
I’m not sure if the comment made by @Honesty period was referring to Rav Shmuel HaLevi Vosner Zatzal or any other of his sons or Talmidei Chachamim by that name but it if it was please take it down. It is quite sickening. Freedom of speech on these forums do not have to include disgracing Talmidei Chachamim. If you won’t post inappropriate material don’t post such things either.

  8. True, A person has a right to an opinion against vaccines so long as he keeps it to himself. Educating others about your beliefs is a very big responsibility and often delusional, as one never really knows if the scientific facts are in fact those he feels the most strongly about. For that reason it is wrong to describe this guy only as an anti-vaxxer. I myself just happily drove a relative for her second Moderna shot today and am not anti-vax, but if someone is it usually isn’t their fault. This guy was extreme and simply crazy.

  9. ” Freedom of speech on these forums do not have to include disgracing Talmidei Chachamim”
Who disgraced Talmedi Chachomin? Giving an example of anti-vaxxers is not in any way disgracing them.
that is their opinion if stating ones’ opinion is disgracing them – perhaps something is wrong with the opinion. no?
