Alarming Report Reveals Number Of Intermarriages In The Jewish State

There are 85,000 intermarried couples in Israel with one Jewish spouse, according to data recently published by the Interior Ministry’s Central Bureau of Statistics, Yisrael Hayom reported on Monday morning.

According to the report, it is the first time in years that official data on the number of intermarried couples in Israel has been published. The report indicates the extent of assimilation in the world’s only Jewish state, a phenomenon that experts have been warning about in recent years.

According to the data, there is a total of 1.345 million couples in Israel with at least one Jewish spouse, out of which 1.260 million are couples with two Jewish spouses, and 85,000 are couples with one non-Jewish spouse – 6.3% of marriages with at least one Jewish spouse. A majority of mixed marriages -almost 53,000 – are comprised of Jewish men married to non-Jewish women (versus 32,000 mixed marriages with Jewish women married to non-Jewish men), which means of course that the children are not Jewish.

The report also shows that the majority of Israeli non-Jews married to Jews do not identify with any religion, meaning that most of them are from the former Soviet Union.

The phenomenon of Jews marrying Arabs is rare but of those who do, more Jewish women than Jewish men marry Arabs.

“The phenomenon of mixed marriages isn’t only a problem for Diaspora Jews, it’s a problem for Israeli Jews as well,” Dr. Netanel Fisher, head of the government policy department at the Academic Center for Law and Science, who requested the data, told Yisrael Hayom.

  1. The establishment of this’medina’ was an act of intermarriage between judiasm & kefira in and of itself. So its par for the course…..

  2. It is silly for Dr. Fisher to compare the problem in the diaspora with that in Israel. In Israel the number is 6.3% in the diaspora its closer to 75%. In Israel its Russians who came in from the diaspora already intermarried, in the diaspora, something like 90% of new marriages are intermarriages. Its apples and oranges and quite frankly, Dr. Fisher’s quote comparing the two is either out of context or insane.

  3. The only known cure for this disease of intermarriage is for people dating to stop being so picky when they do get set up with @ go out with a Jewish candidate

  4. Rav Shach (I think it was him), predicted decades ago that this would happen. He said you will see that the Zionists will soon bring in gentiles for the Jews to marry.

This helps Zionism, because they don’t want the Torah and anything to do with it. So changing its citizens into Russian “Hebrew” gentiles (like, say, Avigdor Lieberman but halachicly not Jewish), is good for the Zionists.

  5. The intermarriage rate in Israel is 0. It’s illegal and not possibly to intermarry in Israel.

The rate of intermarriage of people who are Jewish who now live in Israel is possibly 6%. In my experience, this could be accurate. I know the occasional coworker who met their spouse whole abroad and got married. I also know spouses who converted after moving to Israel, and brought shabbos and kashrus to the home, now making it a fully Jewish home. And lest you doubt, conversion here is harder and stricter, with more enforcement and follow up.

This would make Israel likely the least assimilated Jewish community on earth. This would put the american Jewish rate at over 10x higher.

  6. ujm, so many Jews were saved both physically and spiritually at the expense of importing some problems. Should we say that one who saves one life, saves a world, or should we say we can’t save anyone until they have the documents from Stalin’s beis din? Count how many Russians are in Israel and how many are voting for the “Russian” party – last time I checked it was less than 50%. The rest are voting for (other) right-wing parties. Without them in Israel, you might have had a (fully) left-wing government for last 20 years.

  7. To 147: Your comment implies that Jews are less desirable as marriage partners than gentiles. Are you inarticulate, or anti-Semitic?
