Former President Moshe Katsav, who is serving a seven year prison sentence following a conviction on charges of attacking women, was denied a retrial. The former president filed a request for a new trial but it was determined the evidence in the case does not lend to honoring his request.
Katsavs attorney claimed his client suffered a miscarriage of justice as a result of the testimony of ISA (Israel Security Agency Shin Bet) agents, which he claims schemed up the evidence that convicted him.
The state explained that there was nothing new being presented in the request as Katsavs attorney argued against the evidence during the trial.
