US Navy Intercepts 3 Missiles From Yemen Possibly Heading To Israel [VIDEO]

A U.S. Navy warship on Thursday took out three missiles that had been fired from Yemen and were heading north, U.S. officials said.

The officials said the USS Carney, a Navy destroyer, was in the Red Sea and intercepted the three missiles. It wasn’t immediately certain if they were aimed at Israel. One of the officials said the U.S. does not believe the missiles were aimed at the ship.

“We cannot say for certain what these missiles and drones were targeting, but they were launched from Yemen heading north along the Red Sea, potentially towards targets in Israel,” , Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder tells reporters says in a Pentagon briefing

Ryder says the missiles were shot down because they “posed a potential threat” based on their flight profile, adding that the US is prepared to do whatever is needed “to protect our partners and our interests in this important region.” He says the US is still assessing what the target was.

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have expressed support for the Palestinians and threatened Israel. Last week, in Yemen’s Sanaa, which is held by the Houthi rebels still at war with a Saudi-led coalition, demonstrators crowded the streets waving Yemeni and Palestinian flags. The rebels’ slogan long has been, “God is the greatest; death to America; death to Israel; curse of the Jews; victory to Islam.”

Last week, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, the rebel group’s leader, warned the United States against intervening in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, threatening that his forces would retaliate by firing drones and missiles.

  1. Tell these sand licking, rat loving disgusting, sad vermin to crawl back to which ever cave they found themselves in and drop dead. Make the world a better place.

  2. This is a worrying development.
Navy ships have limited VLS cells for a variety of different missile types.
VLS cells are generally not considered to be replenishable at sea.

  3. “how do u know it was really meant for israel really and not any other country in the world..”
Leah: Not an appropriate time for bad trolls or stupid jokes. Who else would Houthi-fired short-range missiles on a northern vector along the Red Sea be directed at??

  4. @fakenews, TYVM for the mention of VLS. I had to look it up and I learned quite a bit about them.

I wonder if todays version of ‘tenders’ would carry and deliver replacement cells?
