A Gazan civilian who lived in the al-Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip and escaped to the south through a humanitarian corridor opened by the IDF was interviewed on Monday by the Qatar-based Al Araby network.

She related how as she escaped, they were shot at by Hamas terrorists who were in turn were fired upon by the IDF.

“We walked, we were afraid, we raised our hands with our identity cards,” she said. “The IDF shot but not at us, we kept walking,” she explained, implying that there were attempts by Hamas to harm the fleeing Gaza civilians and the IDF thwarted them.

She added that she decided to flee the refugee camp due to her fear of losing her life due to Hamas’s actions. “There were announcements calling for evacuation and we wanted to leave.”

Hamas terrorists also shot at IDF troops as they were opening the corridor.
