US Frustrated With Lack Of Info From Israel On Planned Retaliation To Iran’s Missile Attack

The Biden administration is reportedly frustrated by Israel’s refusal to share information about its planned retaliation to Iran’s recent missile attack, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. Citing unnamed U.S. officials, the report indicates that Washington has been left in the dark about Jerusalem’s next steps, echoing tensions from a previous uncoordinated Israeli operation.

Last month, Israel surprised the U.S. by assassinating Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah without informing the White House in advance. In the aftermath, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed his frustration during a blunt phone call with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

“Excuse me, what did you say?” Austin reportedly asked Gallant when informed of the operation after the fact, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

Later that day, during a second phone call, Austin pressed Gallant further, asking if Israel was prepared to defend itself alone. The concern arose because the U.S. had not been given enough time to deploy forces to counter a potential immediate reprisal by Hezbollah.

The tensions highlight ongoing friction between the two allies over coordination on military actions, particularly in light of heightened risks in the region following both Hezbollah’s leader’s assassination and Iran’s missile attack. Washington’s concerns center on the potential escalation of conflict and the safety of U.S. personnel and interests in the region.

  1. The friction stems from the us lack of true concern and support for a true ally. And therefore any us concern about its own interests and assets in the region is magnified because that is their only real concern, as well as concerns for the upcoming election, and not the serious security and existential concerns of their strong ally

  2. Israel would be wise to stop boasting about what it will do. Just do it without fanfare and bragging. It is a bad midah and get’s us into trouble as this article proves if for no other reason.

  3. The problem is that the US cannot be trusted! They brought this upon themselves. They consistently leak and Jewish lives cannot afford to be at peril because their “pareve” ally imperils their secrecy.

  4. @Y. Glazier
Too bad that you forget that this evil middah is at the core of zionism.
    you can’t be a zionist without also being a major ba’al ga’ava.

  5. Back in the day, Israel wouldn’t telegraph anything, they were just go ahead and do what they needed to do to take care of business.

If the United States has a problem with Israel not telling them what they’re going to be doing, it’s too bad. It’s the fault of the Democrat Party, the party of anti-Israel. The Democrat Party is not the party of our allies no matter who they are. They cannot be trusted. It’s our wonderful president who has gotten in the way of Israel beating the garbage out of these Arabs. It’s Chuck u Schumer and his people who are the problem.
