Education Minister Yoav Kisch on Wednesday slammed Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara regarding the budgetary delays to the New Horizon (‘אופק חדש’) program, which is intended to improve salary and employment conditions in the Chareidi educational system.
Speaking during a meeting of the Knesset’s Education Committee, Kisch said, “New Horizon is not happening; we have failed in this process. The Attorney General has raised many ‘legal’ difficulties, most of which, in my opinion, stem from an oppositional view towards the government and an attempt to harm Chareidi society.”
“I think there was a very good opportunity here to advance the Chareidi educational system, and she is preventing us from doing so.”
The dispute between Kisch and Baharav-Miara is just one of a series of clashes between the government and the Attorney General over legal issues related to the advancement of government policy in the Chareidi sector.
