An unvaccinated one-year-old toddler from Jerusalem has tragically died of measles, according to the Health Ministry. This marks the third child to die from the disease since May, when the current outbreak began.
The outbreak is now active in several communities, including Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Harish, Yerushalayim, Modi’in Illit, and Nof HaGalil. The Health Ministry reports that 24 measles patients are currently hospitalized, with eight children in intensive care, one of whom is on a ventilator.
Most of the hospitalized patients are children up to the age of six who have not received the MMR vaccine. The Ministry stresses the importance of vaccination to prevent further tragedies.
