An Israeli woman called the police on Friday night and reported that she had been kidnapped to an apartment in the Palestinian city of Yericho.

The suspect in the kidnapping is a co‑worker of the young woman, who drove with her to the Palestinian city for a social gathering with his friends, without her knowledge. When she realized she was in Jericho, she managed to escape and call the police.

IDF and police forces immediately rushed to the area. Meanwhile, Civil Administration forces contacted Palestinian security forces, who extracted the woman and brought her to a safe location outside the city, where she was transferred to IDF troops.

Because of the sensitivity of the case, the Shin Bet is involved in the investigation of the incident.

“The citizen was rescued, with no injuries in the incident,” the IDF spokesperson said. “We emphasize that entry of Israeli civilians into Area A is dangerous and prohibited by law.”
