Police in Bnei Brak–Ramat Gan have opened an investigation into the death of an infant following a bris milah, amid suspicions of negligence during the procedure.
According to police, the investigation was launched after a complaint was received Tuesday regarding the baby’s death and concerns that complications from the bris, which was performed by a mohel, may have led to the tragedy. Sources tell YWN the Bris took place around a month ago.
Patrol officers arrested the suspect, a 66-year-old mohel from Bnei Brak, earlier in the day.
He was taken in for questioning on suspicion of causing the death of a minor by negligence. After being questioned, he was jailed and is expected to be brought Wednesday morning before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for a remand hearing.
Police said they are sharing in the family’s grief and will continue “a thorough investigation in order to uncover the truth and carry out all necessary actions.”

Now the anti Haredi Zionist state is jailing mohelim. If Israel can jail a 66 year old for circumcising Jewish babies why shouldn’t the enlightened Western European nations do the same?

He wasn’t arrested for performing a bris.
He was arrested for suspicion of harming a child (killing him) through negligence, in response to a complaint.
You would prefer that “the anti Haredi Zionist state” not investigate or act upon complaints of negligent homicide involving haredim and that the mohel in question continue to harm other haredi children?
Most people at age 66, their hands are shaking a little .
Is this a botch job, or herpes related?
Is the Mohel’s vision 20/20, 20/15 is even better. Does the Mohel need any type of cataract surgery?
Was the complaint by a frumeh chas vesholom? Mohelim are civil servants usually. Lehavdil Hammurabi’s Code deals with this inyan I think.
