Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah released a message on al-Manar Hizbullah television that “northern Israel will burn as Gaza is burning.” A number of senior Hizbullah officials on Saturday may a point of speaking to the media, stating they will not abandon their brethren in Gaza.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on motzei Shabbos in his statement to the nation warned Hizbullah, stating “others who may seek to take advantage of the situation would be wise not to,” clearly sending a stern message to Nasrallah.
Hizbullah officials however told various Arab media on Saturday that they do not plan to permit Israel to attack Gaza while northern Israel remains tranquil.
