Operation Cast Lead ended some time ago, but the diplomatic ramifications are still impacting Jerusalem. Officials in the West African nation instructed Israel to shut its embassy within 48 hours, and Foreign Ministry officials in Jerusalem report Israel has complied, recalling its ambassador.

The move Mauritania officials stated is a direct result of Israel’s operation in Gaza, accusing Jerusalem of ordering the killing of innocent Palestinians in Operation Cast Lead.
