MK Ben-Ari Planning to Take Part in Um el-Fahm Flag Parade

Ichud HaLeumi MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari has announced he plans to take part in the Tuesday morning Israel flag march in Um el-Fahm. The leaders of the Israeli Arab municipality remain adamantly opposed to the march, with leaders vowing to prevent marchers from entering the community. Arab MKs plan to attend as well, to lend support to opponents of the event.

Some 2,500 police are expected to be on hand to protect the up to 100 marchers permitted to take part in the event.

Responding to critics, Ben-Ari stated “if marching with the national flag is deemed a provocation, then we should lower the flag to half mast now”.

“Israel is a Jewish country and Um el-Fahm of part of it. The march intends to illustrate the point, that the State of Israel is still ours and will remain ours” stated Ben-Ari.

As a result of his statement and planned participation in the event, Knesset security has assigned bodyguards to the MK at least until after Tuesday’s march. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

  1. Ben-Ari says ““Israel is a Jewish country and Um el-Fahm is part of it…” The problem is that while of course Um el-Fahm IS part of Israel (though it should be called by a Hebrew, NOT arabic name) the people living in it are NOT part of Israel, and they have made it abundantly clear that they do not wish to be part of Israel. Therefore, just as any country would justifiably expel (at the very least) admitted traitors, the inhabitants of this town, and many others like, it should be sent to where they will be much more at “home”, across the Jordan river into “palestine”!
