MDA volunteer Adi Chovav, from the Jerusalem district, explains the nation’s EMS provider a number of years ago began becoming involved in Kimcha D’Pischa as a result of responders seeing homes that lack the very basics. He explains that some unfortunate people call for assistance just to get to a medical facility, where they know they will enjoy a hot meal.
The MDA volunteers enter supermarkets and grocery stores and collect foods collected and then packed for distribution. Chovav explains that during recent months, the request for assistance, which are channeled through welfare officials, have increased significantly.
Chovav explains this is truly a grassroots effort and not a decision by MDA directors.
