A Magen David Adom paramedic crew arrived in the N’vei Simcha chareidi senior citizens facility in Yerushalayim to find locals and Hatzolah members performing CPR on an elderly man. The MDA crew made the decision to pronounce the man dead, but it appears Hashem had other plans. The elderly ‘dead’ man came back to life.

MDA received a call a 23:56 on Sunday (June 21) for an 80-year-old male who collapsed. Prior to the arrival of paramedics, Hatzolah EMTs worked with an in-house physician, performing CPR to keep the victim viable for resuscitation.

People on the scene report the medic upon their arrival announced they are not going to attempt to resuscitate the victim, not even taking their equipment from the ambulance. Witnesses report the medics told the people performing CPR to stop “abusing” the victim and to stop. Hatzolah EMTs backed by the home’s physician(s) insisted that resuscitation efforts continue.

About that time, the ‘dead’ man began moving, showing signs of life. He was eventually transported by the paramedics to Shaare Zedek Medical Center with a spontaneous pulse.

As of Wednesday, the man was reported conscious and speaking with people.

According to MDA spokesman Yerucham Mandola, when the three paramedics arrived no CPR was being performed on the victim. The medics began advanced life support measures during which, after conferring with a physician, made the decision to terminate efforts. They report the senior physician of N’vei Simcha concurred.

The MDA statement contradicts statements from N’vei Simcha medical staff.
