Carta Lot to Operate Shabbos

714.jpgIt now appears that the Jerusalem Municipality will open the Carta parking lot on Shabbos, not the Safra Square municipal parking lot as indicated on Wednesday.

Mayor Nir Barkat on Wednesday filed an urgent appeal with the Jerusalem District Court, seeking to open Carta which is in receivership. To the mayor’s dismay, the court only agreed to hear the case on Sunday, not providing him with any possible solution for this Shabbos.

Reports on Thursday afternoon indicate that “an agreement was reached,” not really detailing what chain of events occurred to permit operating Carta, but the mayor has expressed his hope that the new reality will prevent the promised stormy protests against chilul Shabbos since Carta is not the municipal City Hall lot.

  1. Get opportunity for parents, children, zaydees and bubbys to bond, visit and have a geshmak shabbos together at home instead of in the streets.
