Speaking with Kol Chai Radio on Monday evening, Israel’s Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yonah Metzger Shlita explained he is “trying to extinguish fires today, even though we are lighting many candles these days”.
“Irresponsible people did this”, referring to the erev shabbos arson attack against a mosque, “but I cannot put my finger on anyone or group… Such an act places Jews around the world in danger, since we are a minority in every country and this may result in acquiring new enemies where we never thought possible”.
The Rav explained his comment that the vandalism attack against a Shechem area mosque reminded him of the Holocaust and Kristallnacht by stating “we as Jews have a sensitivity to attacks against houses of worship being set ablaze”, not in any way comparing the magnitude of the events. He added the events “do not hint at a Jew being responsible for the attack”.

“S’yug l’chochmoh shteekeh”
so shut up :D:D:D
So what does this “ge’on olam” think of ונתצתם את מזבחתם, ושברתם את מצבתם, ואשריהם תשרפון באש, ופסילי אלהיהם תגדעון, or of ואבדתם את כל משכיתם, ואת כל צלמי מסכתם תאבדו, ואת כל במותם תשמידו? How do these psukim fit into the brand new issur he has discovered on destroying houses of worship?
milhouse’s comment is silly because Moslem religion is not avodath zarah
So what? The claim is that there is something wrong with destroying houses of worship; what difference does it make whether they’re avoda zara or not? Either there is such a prohibition or there isn’t. And clearly there isn’t.
In addition, Islam may not be avoda zara, but it’s still a false religion that we are commanded to suppress if we have the power. Right now we don’t have the power, but that proves that there is nothing wrong with destroying a mosque.
