According to the statement of an IDF soldier to police, he was attacked in Petach Tikvah on Thursday, with the assailant breaking a bottle over his head, knocking him to the ground and stunning him temporarily. The assailant used the moment to make off with the soldier’s weapon.

Police are investigation. While not giving any explanation, investigators are indicating it appears the attack was criminally motivated and not an act of terrorism.
