Cause of Death Determined in Death of Shayetet 13 Commando

The investigation into the death of Israel Navy Shayetet 13 naval commando has been completed, determining that oxygen poisoning was the cause.

Staff-Sgt. Gal Azoulai z”l, 19, from Zichron Yaakov was killed during routine diving maneuvers in December, as was reported by YWN-Israel.

It has been determined that oxygen poisoning was the cause, as is stated in the definitive report presented to the Israel Navy Commander, Admiral Eliezer Marom.

Officials point out that such a fatality is extremely rare, the result of diving with a closed oxygen system, but investigators did determine it was the cause of death in this case.
