Rav Efrati Shlita Joins Israeli Poultry Shechita

With the reports that were leaked in recent months, it was abundantly clear that the addition of the shechita of Rav Yosef Efrati Shlita to Israel’s poultry market was only a matter of time. The rav’s chickens will be carried exclusively in branches of the Kimat Chinam supermarket chain.

Persons involved in the shechita proudly report it will be carried out in accordance with the instructions of Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita.

The operation of R’ Efrati’s shechita will take place one day a week, resulting in about 8,000 chickens with officials announcing at present, there are no plans to expand to turkey and beef, but adding they do plan to step up poultry shechita to meet the market demand.

  1. Shlomozalman, with all due respect, what is sad about another brand of kosher chickens? I wonder if you would be as sad if you were to read that a new brand of non-kosher chicken would be introduced to yerushalayim.
