Police have arrested a man who was posing to be an official representing the Ministry of the Interior. He defrauded Arab residents of the eastern capital by making them believe he can assist them.
The 48-year-old eastern Jerusalem resident was taken into custody a week ago. Police learned during the past half year he posed as a state inspector responsible for uniting families. He was given money by naïve residents who believed he was going to move their case along. To date, he received money from 15 families, netting at least $150,000.
