Arab League: Peace Contingent on Israeli Withdrawal

Arab League officials have announced that there cannot be peace in the Mideast between Arab states and Israel without an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-June 1967 Six Day War borders as well as eastern areas of Jerusalem being designated at the capital of the new state of Palestine.

According to the Petra Jordanian news agency report, Arab League official Mohammed Subeih blames Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for seeking to circumvent core issues by addressing minor issues, such as Iran’s nuclear program.

“Israel should know well that responding (positively) to the land-for-peace Arab initiative is the sole means to attain peace in the region,” he said at a press conference at Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
