Amazon has agreed to a record $2.5 billion settlement with the FTC after being accused of tricking customers into signing up for Prime and making it too hard to cancel. The deal includes $1 billion in civil penalties — the largest fine in FTC history — and $1.5 billion in refunds for affected customers. The FTC said Amazon used misleading checkout buttons and a cancellation process nicknamed “Iliad” for its length. Amazon denied wrongdoing but said it settled to move forward.
