WSJ: Trump Administration Cuts Migrant Work Permits to 18 Months

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Trump administration has reduced work-permit validity for migrants seeking asylum or humanitarian protections from five years to 18 months.

• Officials say the shorter term allows for more frequent re-vetting, per USCIS Director Joe Edlow.

• The move reverses a Biden-era policy and expands the administration’s efforts to tighten legal immigration.

• Edlow said work authorization is “a privilege” that requires ongoing review.
