The Moscow Times reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law permitting the seizure of homes in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories if their owners fled during the war.

Under the new legislation, houses, apartments, and rooms “showing signs of being ownerless property” can be declared the property of local municipalities or regional authorities.
