US Forces Capture Venezuelan Leader Maduro Despite Helicopter Coming Under Fire

The New York Times reports that the U.S. military mission to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro reached a critical moment when a lead U.S. Army helicopter was damaged after coming under fire and its pilot was shot multiple times while flying over Caracas.

Despite the damage, the helicopter was able to land and deploy elite U.S. commandos, who stormed Maduro’s compound, seized him after a firefight with his Cuban security team, and evacuated him by air.
