Landslide Puts Sicilian Town on Brink, Forces Mass Evacuations

The Sicilian town of Niscemi is now perched on the brink of a cliff after heavy rains triggered a massive landslide, leaving hundreds of homes at risk of collapse.

The historic center — home to 880 buildings, some dating back to the 17th century — is under threat. More than 1,500 residents have been evacuated, and a state of emergency has been declared.
