New York State DMV Raises Penalties, Lowers Suspension Threshold Under New Point System

Starting tomorrow, New York State�s updated DMV point system will take effect, increasing penalties for more serious traffic violations. Under the changes, offenses such as DWI and driving without a license could carry up to 11 points, while the threshold for potential license suspension has been lowered to 10 points over a two-year period. Officials say the update is aimed at cracking down on dangerous driving and repeat offenders.
