A federal judge in Washington has permanently blocked the Trump administration from implementing an order to end federal funding for NPR and PBS.
• U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss ruled the directive is unlawful and unenforceable, citing First Amendment protections.
• The judge said the Constitution “does not tolerate viewpoint discrimination and retaliation of this type,” and argued the order appeared aimed at silencing viewpoints the president opposed.
• The ruling notes the order directed agencies to cut off all federal funding to NPR and PBS, and found no legal precedent supporting such action based on an entity’s speech.

what a load of rubbish! if npr and pbs are publishing a “viewpoint”, rather than impartial journalism, there is no obligation to fund it. in fact, funding it may be unconstitutional in itself, as it isn’t “free press” at all.
