FLATBUSH: A 44-year-old woman, identified as Cherry Cayetano Sobel, was struck and killed by an ambulance early Thursday morning at Ocean Ave and Ave O just before 6:40 a.m. Authorities say Sobel was crossing the street when the ambulance, which belongs to Maimonides Medical Center, was making a turn and hit her. She was taken to Maimonides Hosp, where she was pronounced dead. The hospital said the EMT crew involved has been suspended while the incident is under investigation, and police say no arrests have been made.
