The New York Post reports that the Trump administration is withholding $74 million in federal highway funding from New York over alleged failures to properly review commercial driver’s licenses issued to non-resident truck drivers.
According to the report, federal officials also warned that another $147 million could be withheld if the state does not take corrective action.
A federal audit found concerns involving roughly 32,000 non-resident commercial licenses, including many with expiration dates extending beyond valid work authorization periods.
The administration said the move is aimed at protecting public safety.
