Suspected Oil Spill Detected Near Iran’s Kharg Island Export Hub, Satellite Images Show

Soar satellite imagery has identified an unusual oil spill near Iran’s Kharg Island, the terminal responsible for more than 90% of Iran’s oil exports.

The cause of the spill remains unclear at this time, though one theory is that Iran may be releasing oil into the sea due to a lack of storage capacity, while another possibility is a systems malfunction on Kharg Island.
