Coalition Leaders Submit Bill to Dissolve Knesset as Parties Push for Election Date Options

Coalition Chairman Ofir Katz and coalition faction leaders submitted a bill to dissolve the 25th Knesset, with the proposal expected to pass a preliminary reading on Wednesday.

• The move is aimed at allowing the coalition to control the pace of the process, while the final election date would be decided later in the Knesset House Committee.

• United Torah Judaism is pushing for elections on September 1, Shas on September 15, while Prime Minister Netanyahu prefers October 27.

• Shas is reportedly pushing for elections between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur so voters head to the polls after tefillos, though logistical concerns remain over conducting elections during that period without chillul yom tov.
